On March 29, or in Early Voting starting March 15, Louisiana voters can choose to keep Moving Louisiana Forward by voting YES on Constitutional Amendment #2.
Amendment 2 continues the historic tax reform Governor Jeff Landry and the Legislature, with overwhelming bipartisan support, started at the end of 2024.
Amendment 2 locks in reforms along with the largest tax cut in Louisiana history. These structural fiscal reforms will benefit Louisiana for generations.
Constitutional Amendment 2:
- Permanently lowers the maximum income tax rate.
- Pays down the state’s retirement debt and gives the savings to teachers with a permanent teacher salary increase.
- Protects the homestead exemption and exemptions for religious organizations. (See an official Louisiana Department of Revenue memo on the protection of church and religious organizations.)
- Doubles the senior citizen tax deduction, allowing senior citizens to keep more of their income in retirement.
- Creates a government growth limit.
It also:
- Merges duplicate savings accounts to streamline government.
- Moves Parish governments away from charging property taxes on business inventory, allowing parishes to opt out of collecting inventory taxes to help grow the economy.
Amendment 2 will set Louisiana on a course to create more jobs, grow the economy, and put more money in the pockets of hard-working Louisianans, teachers, and our senior citizens.
